Robert Pattinson compares the showdowns between his Twilight character, the vampire Edward Cullen, and the werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner, in the upcoming third film Eclipse to "being in a club in South Beach".
"One of the most difficult things is kind of doing all this macho stuff with someone else when it's so not for real at all," he said. "It could be very embarrassing if it wasn't funny."
"Doing that kind of stepping up to this guy with his shirt off - it's like being in a club in South Beach or something," Pattinson told George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company.
Lautner said the two ruined several takes because they "couldn't keep a straight face" during their confrontations, saying: "The most challenging thing about filming this movie is having to hate Edward, because Rob is such a nice guy."
In The Twilight Saga films is based on the books by Stephenie Meyer. The series sees Cullen and Black battle for the affections of the mortal Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, who says her character is "awkward" but that her personality helps her show that her love for Cullen is genuine and by choice.
Pattinson says unlike in the previous film, New Moon, at least two of them are in "almost every single scene" in Eclipse, which is set for release on June 30 and which is "very suspenseful" but has good comedic elements, according to Lautner.
