‘Water for Elephants’ among Fox films lauded by Environmental Media Association

From today’s Sun Herald:
LOS ANGELES — The Environmental Media Association awarded Fox Filmed Entertainment 12 EMA Green Seals at its 20th Annual Environmental Media Awards on October 16. The EMA Green Seal is given to films and television shows that promote sustainable production methods and highlights those in the entertainment industry that have made strides in incorporating such practices.
Fox also took home the top prizes for projects that deliver a specific environmental message, winning Best Feature Film for Avatar and Best Television Episodic Drama for Bones. Twentieth Century Fox’s animated feature Fantastic Mr. Fox also was nominated in the Best Feature Film category.
The Fox films that earned recognition for their commitment to environmentally responsible filmmaking are Love & Other Drugs, Water for Elephants, 127 Hours, Black Swan, The Big Year, Knight and Day, Marmaduke, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Descendants, Just Wright, Cedar Rapids, and Win Win.
Fox’s environmental efforts on its productions are part of a broader commitment by parent company News Corporation to reduce its impact on climate change and the environment. Productions follow Fox’s Green Guide guidelines to go “green” by reducing the use of energy and fuel; diverting as much waste as possible from landfills through reuse, recycling and donation; and tracking all carbon emissions. Fox expects to achieve net zero carbon emissions from its operations by the end of 2010, part of News Corp.’s company-wide carbon neutrality target.

Interview: Sara Gruen thinks Robert Pattinson is “going to shine” as Jacob Jankowski

Sara Gruen was interviewed for The Dallas Morning News and discussed her new novel, Ape House, and her thoughts on Robert Pattinson playing Jacob Jankowski. Here’s an excerpt.
What do you think of the casting for the movie of Water for Elephants? I think Robert Pattinson is really going to shine in that role. He’s so dedicated. This was a rough-and-tumble shoot, and when I was there on the set, he’d be lying in the dirt for 18 straight takes in a row, and he would nail every single one. He’s a nice guy, and he reads. He always has a book in his hand. My family got cameos. I’m in a scene where Rosie [the elephant] is raiding a produce stand.

Fans give their account of Water for Elephants in Chattanooga

Greg Mason said;“I didn’t even realize it was him when he walked through the door,”  who was working as CBC’s doorman Saturday. “I really wasn’t star-struck too much, but seeing a star’s face is pretty cool.”

Jessica Eubanks had to wait to get to the second floor because it had reached capacity. After a couple of people left, she said she was allowed to go upstairs.

After maneuvering around bodyguards and “flirting” with production crew members, she managed to speak with the star for around 10 minutes.

Heather wrote;
“Ever since I found out that he was going to be in town filming, I was hoping that I would see him out somewhere. After hearing so many false claims of places that he was in town, when I heard that he was at CBC I didn’t believe it. 30 mins after the first time I heard he was there, my friend sent me a message saying that one of his friends was there and saw him. I got up, got dressed, threw on some makeup, and ran out the door.

We went in to the bar area and couldn’t see anything at all so we went back out to the front. We kept hearing people saying that he left so we decided to leave too. We got out the door and then we thought that there were still too many people there for him to be gone, so we went back in. This time we sat right inside the door at a table. My friend went over to go to the bathroom, but there was a guy standing outside of the door and he said ‘there’s someone in there’ and then the door to the bathroom hallway opens and out walks Rob and his 2nd bodyguard! We were all shocked and couldn’t even think to grab a camera because it was so sudden. He went back in the bar area and we decided we should move in there too. We moved in there and got a table. He was at the end of the room in a corner with all of his group.”

First Look at Gil Birmingham's And Chaske Spencer's 'Shouting Secrets'

The Benzini Brothers arrive in Chattanooga

Rob Pattinson has been spotted or so they think? Is that Rob or not? And many fans are up with the lark ready to see their favourite actors. Channel 3 Eyewitness News was the only television crew on scene as Pattinson walked around in a hoodie, or so they say.

Robert is said to be filming the opening and closing scenes and he may only be there for one day, although there is a possibility his stay may continue into Saturday. The train museum is said to be closed until Tuesday, but I am sure that this won’t distract the fans from trying to get a peek at the filming.

West Cove Road is now blocked. Security is tight around the movie set. The fans were asked to go back to their vehicles, at about 6.30 this morning, it was just a precautionary thing, with no other incidence.

The date for the release in theaters of Water for Elephants, which is said to be on the 15th of April, 2011.
